Poll Shock

It was really a shock last night viewing the poll result of 12th general elections of Malaysia.
Before the night of 8th March 2008, I never expected that BN will merely win a simple majority with 140:82 instead of a 2/3, and severals veteran minister was unable to sustain their seats.

The Stage Kelantan, Kedah, Penang, Selangor, Perak goes to Oppositions. Everyone thought that “Penang lost is the greatest shocked of the night” but it was not the end, soon after the 12am of the 9th March, results is announced gradually and Kedah, Perak, Selangor news was spread one after another.

Clear yet loud message is passing through the votes from our people. I believe that from these results BN would have to take a really deep thinking after this, throughout their strategies, directions and performances.

But that is not all. The results are described as “Political Tsunami”, “huge wave of changes”. This does bring big changes in our government structures. And Economist analysed that "Malaysia's election upset likely to rattle investors". From now on, what is the next? I believe for the next 5 years, coordination among one and another is a key to our nation, which could be greatly impact if it to be a failure. Despite of a big win, it is no time for the opposition to celebrate for it but to prepare for the arrangement and transition. If the analogy of this general election as the result slip of BN; then for the next election, it will the result slip of both BN and the oppositions.
However, I look into it optimistic way as in our political backgrounds: BN as a giant in compare to the other parties, the oppositions were always challenged as “talks but do nothing”. It is a good thing that they now are involved, which I really look into the growth of the parties with the experiences. Else, they will lose it again after the five years.
